St Wilfrids Church has been at the centre of West Hallam for over 800 years. Its commanding position on top of a hill makes it visible for miles around. St Wilfrids is part of the Diocese of Derby and has close relationships with other churches in the area. The church is in a Covenant with five other churches, Church of England and Methodist. There are very close ties with the Scargill Church of England Primary School, which was originally endowed by Rev'd John Scargill, a past rector of the parish, in 1666.
While the church is at the top of a steep driveway, there is wheelchair access to all parts of the church. A toilet for the disabled is situated in the adjacent churchyard. The church is equipped with a loop system for those with hearing aids.
Our church is ideally situated for wedding ceremonies, with picturesque locations for photographs.
